Terms of service

Last updated 30 September 2026

These terms cover the Homse app (for customers), the Homse Pro app (for professionals), and the Homse booking service. Where it says “we”, that means Homse; “you” means whoever is using one of the apps. By using either app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the apps.

1. What Homse is

Homse connects people who need work done in their homes with professionals who do that work — electricians, plumbers, AC technicians, cleaners, carpenters and similar trades.

We are the platform, and we assign the work. Unlike a marketplace where you browse and pick, our team assigns each booking to a professional we think is right for it. We check and approve every professional before they can receive work.

The professional carries out the work. We are responsible for running the service properly — assigning suitably vetted people, pricing clearly, and dealing fairly with you when something goes wrong.

Two other documents form part of this agreement: our Privacy Policy and our Cancellation and Refund Policy.

2. Who can use Homse

You must be 18 or over to book a service or to work through Homse.

You need an account, and the details on it must be true. Keep your sign-in secure: anything done through your account is treated as done by you, unless you tell us it was not.

One person, one account. We may suspend accounts that are shared, sold, or opened with false details.

3. Booking and prices

The price shown at checkout is the price you pay: the service price, less any coupon, plus a flat ₹80 platform fee. Prices are set by us, not by the individual professional, and are calculated by our servers rather than by the app on your phone.

If a job turns out to be materially different from what was booked, the professional will tell you before continuing, and you can agree the new price or stop.

You can pay by UPI, card or net banking, or pay after the service, where that option is offered. Card and UPI details are entered on our payment provider’s own screens and never reach us.

4. Cancelling

In short: cancelling is free until we assign a professional. After that the ₹80 platform fee is not refunded and everything else is. Once a job has started it is a phone call, not a button. The full rules, including what happens when something goes wrong with the work, are in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

5. If you are a professional

Approval is ours to give and ours to withdraw. We may decline an application, or end the arrangement, if documents cannot be verified, if the standard of work is poor, or if a professional behaves unacceptably towards a customer.

You are not our employee. You are an independent professional using Homse to find work. You decide your hours, you decide which jobs to accept, and nothing here creates an employment relationship.

What we expect

  • Turn up when you accepted, or tell us as early as you can that you cannot
  • Do the work competently and safely, with your own tools
  • Treat customers and their homes with respect
  • Hold any licence or certification your trade requires by law

Getting paid

You earn the job price less our commission, and that amount is shown to you before you accept. Commission rates can change; we will tell you before a change takes effect. Add a bank account in the app and request a payout when you want your earnings transferred.

Cancelling on a customer

Accepting a job and then dropping it costs the customer their day. Repeatedly doing so affects your reliability score, which affects the work we send you.

6. What we ask of everyone

Do not use Homse to break the law, to harass or discriminate against anyone, to take payment outside the platform for work arranged through it, or to interfere with how the apps and our systems work.

Taking a booking off-platform is the one worth naming plainly: it removes the customer’s protection if something goes wrong, and it removes ours if we need to establish what happened. We may end an account over it.

7. What we are and are not responsible for

We are responsible for running the service with reasonable care — approving professionals properly, pricing honestly, handling your data as our privacy policy says, and dealing with problems fairly.

We are not responsible for things genuinely outside our control: a professional’s independent decisions during a job, or events such as weather, traffic and power cuts that prevent work happening.

Where the work itself is faulty or incomplete, section 3 of the Cancellation and Refund Policy says what we will do about it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law, which you keep regardless of what this document says.

8. Your content

Photographs, reviews and notes you add stay yours. You give us permission to show them where they belong in the service — a review on a professional’s profile, a photograph attached to a booking.

We may remove content that is abusive, misleading, or not yours to post.

9. Closing an account

You can close your account at any time. The professional app and the customer app both have a Delete my account option, and homse.in/deletion-account explains what is erased and what we must keep.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we do, we will tell you why, unless the law stops us.

Some records outlive an account: completed bookings and payment records are kept for eight years because tax and accounting rules in India require it.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and we will tell you in the app when a change is significant. A booking is governed by the terms in force when it was made.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Punjab have jurisdiction.

Before anything formal, please write to us. Almost everything is resolved by someone reading the booking and the messages and working out what happened.
